Robin Puplett’s exhibition ‘Here & Now’ comes to the gallery on the 31st January and it’s set to be a stunning show.
Robin who has been painting since childhood but it is only in the last few years that he has turned a lifelong passion for art into a full time career as an artist. Classically trained in both fine art and graphic design, his preferred medium is acrylic on canvas although he also enjoys working with oils or pencil.
Originally from London, he has spent many years travelling and living aboard before finally settling down in Thirsk, North Yorkshire with his wife and two young children.
Robin currently draws his inspiration from the scenes, landscapes and skies of his local environment, and can often be found up on the hills or out in the villages sketching and photographing, always looking for the little details or big skies that make Yorkshire such a wonderful place to live.
With a sell out solo exhibition (May 2014) and recently making the shortlist for Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year, his work is rapidly gaining both recognition a loyal following.
A body of artwork born from our immediate surroundings, showcasing the grand splendour and intricate details of the Yorkshire landscape. Painted over the last year, with several pieces a recent as January 2015, Robin Puplett has strived to capture the ‘Here & Now’ of our environment which encapsulates everyday scenes whilst highlighting a sense of timelessness.
The core of the exhibition takes inspiration from views within a 10 mile radius of The Old Grammar School Gallery.
Join us on the 7th February (from 7pm) for a meet the artist evening where Robin will be giving a small talk about his favourite pieces in the show. Its a perfect opportunity to come and meet the artist and pick his brains about his inspirations for the exhibition over a glass of wine.
