Trompe L’oeil has always fascinated me, the skill to trick the eye with optical illusion is fantastic and our latest addition to the gallery Paul Czainski is a dab hand at it.

We have owned a painting of Paul’s for a number of years which can be seen in the gallery although not for sale (Sheep in headlight) above is a great example of the skill Paul has, In the current body of work we now have on display in the gallery many people have walked past dismissing it as a print or even a poster as it is so good its hard to believe they are real paintings.

A fabulous example of this is “Trompe L’oeil Cats” the mind boggles when looking at it and to believe its a painting, even the wooden background is painted, I actually stood for over twenty minutes looking at this particular piece mainly in disbelief. If you get chance to come into the gallery I can’t stress enough that you must take a moment and enjoy Paul’s work, these digital images don’t do them justice.

Also in the body of work is a series of Venice paintings, there’s one thing I enjoy the most in art and that’s an artist with a great sense of humour, and for it to translate into the paintings is an added bonus for me. I love nothing more than to walk round the gallery looking at work and have a chuckle to myself. I have always said its a pleasure to display work to provokes a reaction good or bad and Pauls work certainly ticks that box for me.
